Open Arms Village on lockdown – Emergency funds needed

I know you love the children at Open Arms Village and are wondering how coronavirus (COVID-19) is affecting them and the community we serve in Eldoret.

Because many of our children have compromised immune systems, we’ve made the difficult decision to place the Village on lockdown and ask all non-essential staff to stay home. All mission teams have made the decision to cancel their trips and we have had to cancel all our events for the foreseeable future.

The financial impact of these decisions is huge. We rely on mission teams to carry donated items and serve in important ways and running events is a big part of our financial income.

The impact in Kenya is huge. As cases are increasing the International Airport has closed. Social distancing has been implemented (although the majority of people will not be able to do this) and all schools are closed. Yet there are still over 150 children who rely entirely on us for daily care and many staff members who rely on their income for themselves and their families. Not to mention all the people we serve in the wider community.

You have always been generous in times of crisis and we recognise that everyone has been impacted to a different degree. Today, would you donate what you would've spent on coffee, dinner out, a film or sporting event or even travel during this time? You can give by clicking the button below.

Your gift will close the gap during this time of urgent, unforeseen need.

Thank you!

From all of the Open Arms International UK Team
